Reading

At Forest Town we aim to develop children who have a love of reading whilst developing key skills such as fluency and comprehension. Staff share a high quality, engaging books with children that are linked to their topic. A love of reading is developed from our youngest children in F1 through daily story sessions and speaking and listening activities. Phonics is taught from F1-Yr2 and as a school we follow letters and sounds alongside the Jolly Phonics actions and pictures. We ask parents to support their children at home by reading at least four times a week to practice skills learnt within school.
