Phonics Challenge - Phoneme Spotter Story

This week's phonics focus is on the 'oa' sound.

Read the short story with your child and see if they can spot all of the words with the 'oa' sound in.

They should notice that even though words have the 'oa' sound, the words might be spelt differently. In our daily phonics sessions we call this an 'alternative spelling'.

Phonics Challenge 2

Phonics Challenge 1 was to find the words with the ‘oa’ sound in and spot those alternative spellings. ✏️

Can you work out what all of these pictures are with the alternative ‘oa’ spelling today?

You could then challenge yourself to put some of the words into a sentence. It could be a silly sentence like 'The goat watched a show in the snow'.

How many sentences can you think of?
