Phonics is a key part to Year 1 learning and children have daily sessions when at school.

There are some great online resources to recap the different phonics skills your children have learnt at school already. We have put some links to key websites on 'Our Learning' page.

We will add some weekly challenges for you to have a go at on here too.

Phonics Challenge 1

Phoneme Spotter Story

Read the short story with your child and see if they can spot all of the words with the 'igh' sound in.

They should notice that even though words have the 'igh' sound, they words might be spelt differently. In our daily phonics sessions we call this an 'alternative spelling'.

Phonics Challenge 2

Phonics Challenge 1 was to find the words with the ‘igh’ sound in and spot those alternative spellings. ✏️

Can you work out what all of these pictures are with the alternative ‘igh’ spelling today?
I will post the answers at the end of the week for you to check 😁
