World Book Day 2020

World Book Day

Thursday 5th March

This year for world book day we want to bring to life the words from our favourite books. Therefore, on the day, we are asking the children to dress up as a word from a book they have read.

Here are a few ideas:

  • ‘green’ – dressing all in green
  • ‘tired’ – dressing in pyjamas with ‘bed hair’
  • ‘mysterious’ – dressing up like a spy

The children must understand the word that they are and have it displayed somewhere on their costume. There will be some prizes for the most ‘inventive’ costumes. We will be talking to the children about ideas in class but if you have any question, please let us know.

To celebrate our love of reading as a school we would also like to invite parents/carers in for our first ‘Starbooks Café’. This will take place from 8.00am until the start of school. It will be an opportunity to cosy up with your child and enjoy a book and some breakfast (maybe even a hot chocolate). This will take place in the Foundation Unit, Year One and in the Hall younger/older siblings are also welcome. Afternoon F1 parents are also invited to stay until 1pm to enjoy the ‘Starbooks Café’ in the Foundation Unit too. Parents/carers are also welcome to dress up too!

Finally, we are asking that the children also bring in their favourite book to share with their class throughout the day. We really hope you will continue to support us in our mission to enable our children to develop a love of reading from such a young age.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact a member of staff. We look forward to seeing the creative costumes on the 5th March.

Thank you for your continued support,

Mrs Parker
