Introduce Paul Klee using the PowerPoint. Look at different pieces  created by Paul Klee.

Look at ‘The Castle in the Sun’.

Talk about the use of shapes and colours in this painting.

  • Can you tell what the painting is?
  • What might it look like to you?
  • What shapes have been used in the painting?
  • What colours can you see?
  • How might Klee create art like this?
  • How do these colours make you feel?

The task if for children to make their own recreation of The Castle in the Sun.

  • They can draw round 2D shapes or create their own. Then use oil pastels, wax crayons or paint to fill in their shapes.
  • Use different sponges or 3D shapes to print the shapes.

Collage – cut out different shapes and put together to make the castle and the sun.
