Adding two 2-digit numbers

Today we are adding two 2-digit numbers together.

It is important that you use/draw the tens and ones accurately to work out the answer.

For the example above we made the first number (25). Then we made the next number in the calculation (13) UNDERNEATH. This helps to count up the total amount of tens and ones. As you can see there are 3 tens and 8 ones in total, so we know that the answer is 38.

Have a go at these calculations using the same method as above:

28+51 =

44 + 24 =

31 + 52 =

15 + 24 =

50 + 34 =
