Talk about how Vashti’s teacher was the person who inspired her to do more with the dot that she had first created. ‘Just make your mark and see where it takes you.'
Look at the back page and read the dedication. ‘Dedicated to Mr Matson, my 7th grade math teacher, who dared me to "make my mark"’
Who is my Mr. Matson?
- Children to think about the people in their lives who have helped them in a frustrating/tricky situation.
- Children to write about a person who inspires them to work hard and has helped them when they felt they couldn’t do something.
- Children to give an example of when this person helped them.
From this children to then write/draw ways in which they can make their mark/inspire others.
