The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.

Participation in sports and the development of a healthy lifestyle is very important in our school. We believe that positive involvement in Physical Education and sporting activities help to promote key skills and values in our children that they will use in many other areas of their lives.
The DfE allocates PE and Sport Premium money to each school and this funding, along with carefully planned funding from the core staffing budget and the dedication and commitment of the school, are leading to opportunities to access a wide range of sports, including those which are new and unusual, developing skills and increased participation in physical activity.
We are committed to using the funding to enhance provision and ensure that our approach is sustainable, resulting in ongoing improvements in the health and fitness of children across school.
Through this commitment to sporting achievement our school has been awarded the Sainsbury’s School Games ‘Gold’ Award for two successive years (2014-15 and 2015-16) after achieving the ‘Silver’ award the previous year. We are incredibly proud of our staff and pupils for this achievement and are working to build on this year on year.
Our school has been nominated for Nottinghamshire Sporting Primary School of the Year for two successive years (2016 and 2017).
Details of the funding we received in 2015-16 and 2016-17, and the impact of this funding in 2015-16, are included in the document below:
