Grass Snakes – Mr Wills

This is what the Grass Snakes will be up to this half term…

Thank you for all the super hard work you have all been putting in on Spelling Shed that has kept us top of the leaderboard!

In Maths we are tackling Decimals in weeks 1 and 2 followed by position and statistics.

We have started by rounding and ordering decimals, which the children have done fantastically well at. There is a fantastic game that you can play with your children to keep practicing these skills. You can find it by clicking the link above. Next, we will be looking at decimals and how to solve problems using the four operations. If you would like a sneak peak, then this video is worth watching.

In literacy, we are still focusing on Maz Evans’ Who Let the Gods out. We will be using Maz’s engaging and hilarious story to influence our own writing! The book follows Elliott on his adventures with the Zodiac Council member, Virgo. We have already been inspired to investigate zodiacs and the constellations. Ask your children to tell you all about it!

As you know, our topic is called ‘Scratch the Surface’ and we will be looking tectonic plates and the effect they have on the planet. If you have any questions, please refer to the knowledge orginiser that was sent home or just send me a Dojo.

There will be a ‘Volcano Competition’ running between us and Adders. This won’t be judged until the week before the Easter holidays so don’t panic! Anyway, here is a list of websites that provide some inspiration. However, if you have your own ideas then that’s amazing, we love originality in Grass Snakes!

Weekly spelling tests are still taking place, so please keep helping your child practice their spellings at home. Alongside this, the children are still expected to access Spelling Shed and Times Table Rockstars.

We love PE in Grass Snakes!

It is extremely important that our kids are fit and healthy, with a positive attitude towards PE and fitness. Please make sure full indoor and outdoor PE kit is in school every Monday, and remains in school all week! Please make sure mud is cleaned off trainers as they may be used indoors, and that tape, bobbles etc are provided for safety. If you have any trouble with kit, please let us know and we will try to help!

Thank you for your continued support.
